Prepare to Live
With the new year approaching soon this blog is fitting. To live is something most us want, at least in a general sense. In my experience as a nurse at the bedside of critical patients, to live has a different meaning. I first-hand witnessed words of regret when death was imminent. In those moments patients and loved ones pleaded, prayed and bargained for the chance to keep living.
This blog challenges you to think broader than the routine of life. I want you to consider a life that is purposeful and that feeds you holistically. This way of living is a personal quest. It doesn’t involve what others think of you or what you think of others. It is all about you!
Entrance to Life
Think about it for just a moment. When we entered the world, we came in alone. We were naked and had no experience of how life was to be lived. For some as time passed, you may have found yourself figuratively at that same entrance point at different points in your life. There is nothing wrong with having new experiences in life that challenge you. The concern is where you end up.
As you read this blog, I want you to consider experiencing life with more intention. Use imagery to see yourself at the very beginning of life and how you will build from that point. Before the new year sets in, use the time you have left in this year 2018, to plan a lifestyle that supports the success you want out of life. We can’t go back in time and change things, but we can take the lessons learned good or bad and move forward with a new outlook on life.
Living for What?
To live you first must know what you are living for. Remember, that personal quest I was talking about earlier? Your life is in your hands. Living with more intention goes beyond the daily routine of getting up, going to work, and engaging with those close to you. We could do so much more, should we accept the challenge of finding our purpose (doing what you were born to do).
If you know me, you know I talk a lot about purpose and for good reason. I have found that without purpose, life can feel meaningless, empty or dark. There is a reason that we are unique individuals. We have different background stories, talents, and gifts. To become aware of your purpose, examine your story. Reflect on your gifts and talents. Discover your passion!
The Work of Living
Nothing comes without doing. Yes, you and you alone must do something about your life. While working with others has its benefits and even receiving encouragement is nice but living beyond the routine depends on your will to BE MORE and DO MORE. I’m not talking about a temporary motivation that tires out after some time and depends on somebody other than yourself. I’m talking about a lifestyle that continues no matter what comes against it.
I know it’s not always easy, nothing worth getting ever is. Yet, any hardship should not cause a roadblock in your success. If you keep working things will work out, it’s the way of the universe. If we don’t sow the seeds and do the work of nurturing them, we won’t see them grow to maturation. Learning and development are key components of living.
Looking forward I hope you decide to live with more intentionality. I pray that your purpose is revealed to you in a way that is clear and precise. If you feeling that yearning for something more in your life, these words are for you. Don’t wait, let the journey to live begin today!
