The Gate Stands Open
It’s true, every opportunity is not for you. Then there are those times when it feels good and everything seems to line up. The gate stands wide open and all you need to do is walk through. This week’s quote challenges your discernment. Do you know when something is for you? I have 3 points for you to consider.
Knowing What You Want
Knowing what you want is the beginning of any opportunity you may be presented with. Sometimes this may seem a little blurry at first when you are creating goals and trying to decide what direction in life is the best for you. But, there comes a point in each of our lives when this becomes clearer. Sometimes we get there by things we have experienced. I can truly say there are certain occupations I will not do anymore because I’ve done it and it offers nothing for what I want to do now.
If knowing what you want does not come easy for you, it’s time to sort it all out. And that’s perfectly normal and good to do. You never want to be in a position of uncertainty. Think about things you feel passionate about. Decide how you want to share, make money, and engage yourself in working with your passion. Consider what would feel most comfortable for you or what would be the ideal setting. The next thing is to make sure you are being true to yourself. Sometimes we do things to please others or because they tell us we would be good at it, and other reasons that have nothing to do with what we truly want. Always be true to yourself.
Gut Feelings
I like to think of gut feelings as an immediate reaction of intuition. We all have it, but, we don’t all use it when it presents itself. It’s important to consider your gut feeling before pushing it aside as meaningless. I assure you it appears for a reason. If not just to explore an idea in more detail or to halt you before you obligate yourself to something you might not be happy with long-term.
Listening and trusting yourself to guide you in decision-making is not as simple as it sounds. I get it. For some of us, we must overcome not so good things from our past that taught us hurt, pain, or untrusting behaviors. It’s difficult to trust people and more so yourself if things have not turned out in your favor during those experiences. Yet, you must find a way to come to terms with what you want your future to look like.
There are some exercises that can be done to help you trust yourself and overcome past trauma. These steps include meditation, forgiving yourself, detachment from resentments, and letting go of attachments that fester confusion and anger. This may not be something you can do on your own. If you have support reach out to them to help guide you through the process.
Zero Compromising
When something is the perfect opportunity of how you envisioned it, there shouldn’t be compromising on your part to make it work. The ripe opportunity is appealing because it comes with the attributes you have dreamed of. This can be different for many of us. That’s why it’s important to know what you want.
Sometimes others will attempt to make something appealing because it fits their purpose. But, I say don’t be bullied or persuaded in the heat of the moment. Allow yourself to take a step back and consider all that’s offered and add input about your needs. Never give away all that you hope and work to build someone else’s dream.
Meanwhile, the gate stands open. We must discern if we should step through or move on to the next opportunity. I encourage you to listen to your heart and match every opportunity with your purpose and desire.
