Your health begins with informed decisions, take time to become literate about the things that benefit your well-being.

Yes, you are the beginning to your good health! To make the best decisions about your health begins with what you know and how you comprehend that knowledge.  Before you can connect with outlets that benefit your health and move you towards your best self, you must discover what information you need to know. Being health literate is simply understanding health information in a way to make the best decisions concerning your health.

Be Informed

Before you begin any health plan, I recommend first knowing the details of the plan. It’s just smart to do. Anything that you consider adopting to maintain health deserves a closer look.  Consider if it can be included in your current lifestyle. After all continued good health is about lifestyle.  If understanding complex medical terms or finding body processes too complicated to follow on your own, consult your Health Provider or Health Coach. Never fear approaching your health concerns with boldness.

Know Your Health

To be informed about your health means performing a self-evaluation.   This means asking herself a set of questions to see where you show up on the health spectrum.  The challenge with self-evaluations is to answer each question honestly.  In doing so you will discover the core of where ill health may begin.  Below are some example questions for you to consider.

Example questions for self-evaluation:

  • Am I overweight and if so, what do I feel is the cause?
  • Is it hard to lose weight?
  • Are you stressed often?
  • Is it hard to find a sustainable resolution when stressed?
  • Do I find it hard to live in my purpose?
  • Do I struggle with who am I?
  • Does past trauma cripple me from moving forward?
  • Do I make connections with my behaviors and thoughts?

You are a holistic being, so your health involves more than one thing. It’s about the mind, body and soul.  So, please don’t feel limited in your evaluation of self.  Add as many questions as it takes to get to the core of your health concern.

Making Connections

Making connections is the final step.  Do you feel the need to connect with someone that can consult with you on your health concerns?  If this is something you are considering there are more questions to ponder.  Whether it is a Physician, Health coach, or another kind of health provider always search for what is going to be helpful to you.

Look at the following questions:

  • What do they offer in their plan?
  • Will it be worth my time and fit with my lifestyle?
  • How much will it cost me in money, time, and effort?

In conclusion, weigh what holistic health means to you in the balances. Only you know the importance it is to you.  Be informed about your options by engaging in learning about health or speaking with someone who is informed. Many opportunities exist that can assist you, your task is to be informed about what you need.  Adhering to the steps presented in this blog will have you be well on your way to understanding your health and assist you in taking steps towards your well-being.
